How does the escrow payment work?
When you book a session, your payment is held securely in escrow — it is not released to the tutor until you confirm the session went ahead. This means you are never at financial risk. If the session does not happen, you can raise an issue and we will step in to resolve it.
Do I need to wait for the tutor to confirm my booking?
Yes. After you select a time slot and pay, the tutor receives a notification and must confirm the booking. You will be notified as soon as they do. If the tutor does not confirm within the expected window, your payment is not captured and the booking is automatically cancelled.
Can I get a refund if the session did not go well?
After the session, you are asked to confirm it took place. If there was a problem, you can report it before confirming, and our team will review the situation. You can also request a cancellation if the session did not meet what was agreed. Funds are only released when you confirm everything was fine.
How do I know if a tutor is actually qualified?
Every tutor on TaskNet is a university student or graduate who has personally passed the exams they teach. Tutors fill in their profile with their university and the subjects they cover. As they complete sessions and receive reviews, they earn levels — Base, Active, Expert, Elite — that reflect their track record on the platform. You can read their reviews and see their rating before booking.
What is the difference between individual sessions, group lessons, and packages?
Individual sessions are private one-on-one meetings with a tutor, focused entirely on your needs. Group lessons are open sessions where multiple students (between 2 and 10 students) join the same class, sharing the cost. Packages are bundles of multiple individual sessions purchased at a discounted rate, ideal for sustained exam preparation over several weeks.
How do group lessons work, and how many students are in one?
Group lessons are scheduled by the tutor at a fixed date and time. Each lesson has a maximum number of seats. You register your spot and pay in advance. The lesson proceeds when enough students have enrolled. The tutor sets the topic, the format, and the group size — a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 10 students per session.
When does the tutor actually receive the payment?
The tutor receives payment only after the student confirms the session was completed successfully. Once confirmed, the amount is added to the tutor's available balance on the platform. The tutor can then request a payout to their PayPal account at any time, subject to a minimum withdrawal threshold.
What are tutor levels and what do they mean?
Tutor levels are earned based on five criteria: number of sessions completed, total earnings, average rating, number of reviews received, and account age. The levels are Base (new tutors), Active (level 1), Expert (level 2), and Elite (level 3). Higher-level tutors appear more prominently in search results and carry stronger trust signals for students.
Can I book a session for a specific exam or topic?
Yes. When you browse tutors, you can filter by subject, exam code, city, university, and session mode (online or in person). Each tutor's profile lists the subjects and exams they cover. You pick the tutor whose profile matches your needs, then select the session type and time slot that works for you.
How do I become a tutor on TaskNet?
Register an account and select the tutor role. Fill in your profile with your university, degree, and the subjects you want to teach. Create your first service — an individual session, a group lesson, or a package. Set your availability on the calendar. Once your profile is live, students can discover and book you. There are no upfront fees to join.
